I created this image back in 2016 as a way to describe my own social anxiety in a visual sense. Since then, this image has struck a chord with many, allowing others to identify with my self image of social inadequacies. Some also interpret it as how one appears during a disingenuous conversation about the banality of life. “How about this weather? Did you catch the big game last night?”. Others also recognize the similarities of the dark figure that haunts them during sleep paralysis, of which I have also experienced.

I updated this illustration with an animated background to further emphasize the intensity of the anxiety. This image has made it’s way onto prints, an album cover and now resides on the blockchain as a 1/1!
