Pride is a protest. Against unlawful detention, violence, discrimination. A protest in love, for love. The history of queer culture - particularly intersectional queer culture - has been intentionally and systematically erased by imperial, colonial and religious forces throughout time but we have always been here. We will always be here. Nature favours diversity, favours interdependent networks within ecosystems. Humans are not separate from nature, we are animals that depend on endless unseen interactions in nature to survive. Policing vulnerable people as a distraction from greed and injustice will not slow the decay, the or keep anyone from escaping the one constant of life - death. This series is my bouquet to celebrate the diverse expression that life takes, the hardships, the pleasures, the grief, the love.
This series is a rework of my Protest Florals series from the 2023 edition of #TezosPride. It includes modified imagery edited in photoshop to give an impression of cascades, to reflect movement and passage of time. Each poem is also expanded, doubled much like the "Lilypad Problem".
