One day, he met Bedelia, the phoenix goddess, and they fell in love. She was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen and he was instantly smitten. However, she was also very powerful and he knew that he would have to be careful around her.

His left eye was accidentally burned out during a battle with the goddess and she felt guilty. In order to make up for it, she added magic in his right eye that allowed him to see into the future.
