Plastic Nirvana: Residual Signal is a new related work extending the visual world of Plastic Nirvana. Artificial flowers, cosmetic traces, mechanical fragments, pearls, lacquer-dark water, and red concentric ripples gather across a reflective surface, as if the original image has dissolved into fragments and begun transmitting again in another form.

The work continues Kusano’s exploration of how memory, desire, and the self are reshaped through images, consumer objects, and machine-generated vision. Rather than presenting a fixed figure, the composition lets presence emerge through traces: a curve of lips, hair-like forms, broken ornaments, synthetic petals, and signal-like waves. These fragments hover between body, object, and data.

Here, beauty is unstable and conditional. It appears through accumulation, reflection, and disappearance — a field where longing, technology, and ornament quietly bind together. What remains is not a portrait, but an echo: a residual signal from a world where the sacred and the artificial have become inseparable.
