He was a trumpet player from an era when radio was magic. One night, mid-solo, the frequency inside him opened. Music poured out of the horn as living birds; they were never notes, they were souls escaping the score.

Beneath his hands, the anatomy of memory reveals itself — veins drawn in blue ink, the cartography of every feeling he ever played. Around him, the world folds into old paper: a football result nobody remembers, an airplane crossing a sky that no longer exists, handwriting from strangers who forgot to be forgotten.

He keeps playing anyway. Into the static. Into the decay. Because a song trapped in paper is not dead — it is only waiting for a signal.

This is the founding piece of "Paper & Static": a collection where vintage archives — botanical plates, anatomical engravings, torn newspapers — are resurrected and disrupted by raw analog interference. The tactile past, interrupting the digital present. Eternal loops of decay.
