TV/VCR COMBO

A combo television, or TV/VCR combo, and more popularly known as televideo, is a television that has a VCR system or DVD player integrated into a television. This technological convergence has the advantages (compared to a separate television and DVD player or VCR) of space preservation and increased portability. Such televisions entered the market in the mid-1980s, when VCRs became ubiquitous devices for homeowners. Since then, the VHS format has become a standard; nevertheless, a large majority of TV and VCR combos are based on the VHS system.

In late 2006, apartment TVs with integrated DVD players started appearing on the market, and were the direct replacements for the TV/VCR combination. This was due to their lower price and wider availability, as well as their more compact form factor, while tube TVs started to become obsolete and VCRs started to disappear from the market.

This highly technological TV/VCR from the 1980s can be found in the GPMina Research Group room, located at the Federal University of Maranhão - UFMA

This is pure nostalgia!
