The sun beats down as you inch up the sheer rock face. Chalky dust coats your fingers as you search for the next narrow crevice or jutting rock to claw your way higher. Rivulets of sweat stream down your back and your muscles burn with exertion.

Glancing down causes your stomach to lurch at the deadly precipice below. Jagged boulders litter the canyon floor hundreds of feet down. You swallow hard and continue reaching skyward.

Your searching fingers finally find a thin ledge above. You hoist yourself up and stand precariously, your chest heaving. The summit is near now. You crane your neck to spot the next handhold.

As you step towards it, disaster strikes - a rock gives way under your foot and you are plunging through open air! Your limbs flail helplessly and a guttural scream rips from your throat. The rock face blurs past in a sickening vertical rush.

You squeeze your eyes shut against the approaching doom. The ledge zooms up to meet you with horrifying speed. A bone-shattering impact steals the breath from your lungs before oblivion embraces you, your broken body limp on the unforgiving stone. Far above, the summit still beckons under the pitiless sun.
