"Βλέμμα" means a gaze in Greek

A gaze from the past, which no longer exists, yet into which we so desperately try to peer, to catch it with our eyes, to keep it, if only for a moment, in the now.

A gaze into the future, which does not yet exist, but on which we place great hopes. We believe that somewhere there a better future awaits us, and we so want to carry the past into it.

But in the end, all we have are ghosts— of what no longer exists and of what does not yet exist.

Only the gaze. Behind us and ahead.
