Even if this work was intended as an abstract study, the crowded, rhythmically repeating structures are reminiscent of the monumental, anonymous appearance of some large cities. The appearance is determined by naive strong strokes and simple forms that give the picture a strong and self-confident expressiveness reminiscent of the art of the New York art scene of the 80s. The surfaces are deliberately not layered, in order to underline the impenetrability, but also to preserve the abstract painterly element.
