Every morning Lydia would feed the birds in her garden and pumpkins just showed up one day. He strolled up, quite confidently and started eating the bird feed Lydia spread out for the birds. The birds were quite startled at first but Pumpkins paid no attention whatsoever to them. This was the first time Lydia had seen any cat eating bird feed, so she went inside to get more. When she came out, Pumpkins was sleeping amongst the feed next to a wooden pumpkin carving and the birds paid no heed as they pecked at the seeds.

This was the start of a long and warm relationship. Pumpkins now often sleeps on Lydia's head while she does the chores around her cottage home. Pumpkins was the perfect fit into Lydia's homely life.
