Sloth<br><br>Damjanski is an artist who respects the institution of sleep. In 2024 he released the virtual exhibition and performance Sleepover, where viewers entered a dreamlike digital space and were invited to take a 30-minute nap; in 2023, there was the AR app Napster, a peer-to-peer nap-sharing service to find places for Damjanski to take a nap. Users could use their camera to select a place for the artist to nap and share it with him. A sleeping 3D model of Damjanski would then appear at that location. With Napster 24, the artist performs sleep yet again, but this time in person instead of virtually. Each artwork in the Napster 24 series is a reflection of a nap taken by Damjanski during a 24-hour period, beginning at 12 AM Eastern Daylight Time on August 8th, 2025. Nap data was recorded through a wearable sleep tracker, and used as the seed to generate the visuals of the artwork. While the abstract visuals appear bright, the data beneath them represents the fractured sleep schedule induced by internet use—either by choice, by the requirement of remote work, or otherwise. This fractured schedule was lived first-hand by the artist both during the recording period, and beyond.
