Description
There is something uncanny about scale invariance in geology. Take a small rock and expand its texture into the distance of the minds eye and you will see that it replicates those expansive terrains and landforms found all over the earth. Once you cross the blood-brain barrier of dimensionality the extremities of scale move into paradoxical alignment as vast landscapes become visible on the surfaces of small stones and rocks.
The technique of height-mapping photographs of minerals and stones from my personal collection (and then texturing that elevation) allows me to interrogate the fractal dimensionality of geology and zoom into the infinite expanses of the minuscule.
