"Sego" means rice, "Kucing" means cat. But it's not rice with cat meat. The word "Sego Kucing" means "rice for cats", because of the small portion. The word comes from the custom of the Javanese people who keep cats and give small portions of food to their pets. Sego Kucing is food originating from Yogyakarta, Semarang and Surakarta. The portion of cat rice is small, usually added with chili sauce, fish and tempeh, then wrapped in banana leaves.
