“Les Vampires” is a bw 1915–16 French silent crime serial film written and directed by Louis Feuillade. It is a magical masterpiece with impact on great directors like Luis Bunuel, Fritz Lang and Alfred Hitchcock… In the film, a reporter and his friend battle a secret society of criminals; “The Vampires”…

The face used here, is an off-shoot of the vampire from the film; Irma Vep. Irma Vep is played by the French actress/director/writer Jeanne Roques aka Musidora. The caharacter inspired Vampyra, Cat Woman and many other contemporary “Goths” like Siouxsie Sioux and Courtney Love.

Elsewhere I do video/photo manipulations, illustrations and here, I do collages that are built on masks/faces from relevant masterpieces of cinema. Overall; I use masks, personas, glitch, reflections, shadows and I am intrigued by fauxtography and the doppelganger theory.
