I had reached this vantage point under the cover of darkness, ready to watch on as a late summer sunrise kissed the mountain peaks in the distance. A thick blanket of fog began to lift off the valley floor, uncovering the rolling fields and scattered pines below, resulting in a scene straight out of a postcard.
