Made with P5.js - 2480 × 3508px - png

Inspired by Peter Saville's iconic cover artwork for "Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures," the generative artwork began as an attempt to recreate its essence. However, as I delved deeper into the creative process, the code took on a life of its own, producing random iterations that captivated me:

This artwork is a convergence of vertical and horizontal randomized strokes, organic distortions, and a color palette drawn from the ZX Spectrum.

Each stroke is subject to random variation within a defined range, embodying the essence of chance and unpredictability.

This approach yields a fascinating range of results, ranging from highly chaotic to more harmonious compositions. Much like the ups and downs of life itself, each iteration carries its own unique character.

While the background remains a solid dark gray, the strokes themselves randomly select hues from the ZX Spectrum palette and the frame will always be a solid white or black.

It's worth noting that in some instances, the strokes may coincidentally choose the same color, creating intriguing visual patterns and moments of unity within the chaos.

The code has a click-to-iterate function that allowed me to go through the iterations and save the ones i liked most which showed an intriguing behavior.
