ISLAND 3 is part of a series of 4 landscape animations and one panoramic airdrop created by Nicolas Sassoon in collaboration with Vancouver-based music producer Yu Su. The landscapes depicted in the animations are inspired by the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, a region of the world which has been particularly influential in the creative research of both artists. In ISLANDS, Sassoon employs minimal pixelated graphics and moiré patterning to generate archetypical landscapes composed of black silhouettes over a polychromatic background. For each animation, Yu Su has created melodic and textured sonic compositions, bringing an emotional dimension to the works.
