The interlocutor is the object or objects that are used by the person taking the picture to control light entering the lens through reflection, diffraction, and filtering.

I have been working on a project titled Interlocutor for several months [six is several, right]. One unexpected fork of the project is the Android photos. Unlike most of the rest of my work the shots in this GIF have been shot on a Pixel 4a. This process is different from the iPhone process as the camera designs optimized around different applications.

One of my favorite Interlocutors during this process has been the capsule from a bottle of Champagne. I flattened this piece of foil thinking it might be interesting and I discovered a face that I could capture if the lighting was just right. This is the face of Nicolas-Francois, or at least that is the name I have given them.

The image in this GIF were captures on a Google Pixel 4a phone using the stock camera app. They have been cropped and minimally filtered in GIMP to minimize contrast banding. The color comes from the capsule from the Champagne bottle and a wristband from Proof of People in London.

Without Hic et Nunc I would not be doing any of this. These photographic experiments were a thing I did for my own amusement. I still take the pictures for that reason but they have taken on a greater meaning and purpose. So thank to everyone for the spring of 2021.
