Digital artists can now sit among peers in traditional mediums. They can speak their own voice. No longer are we working to a brief, instead, a personal expression.

Like the shift from the divine to humanist ideas we embrace technology and the science of creation.

So why are we still expected to adopt the metaphorical divine to be taken seriously? This work illustrates the technical appeasement of the capitalistic brief.

The silhouette was selected for its clear misrepresentation of the period. The choice to ensure the model had no arms or visible mouth reflects the digital artists metaphorical hands being tied and mute ontology.

Aesthetically, a DaVinci technical sketch, is a referential nod to the brief that aims to question the very nature of what made renaissance art wonderful, a fundamental shift away from the societal standards of metaphorical and literal divine.

A digital renaissance is in essence only realised when we accept that digital art should speak it’s own language.
