I am fascinated by nonverbal and symbolic communication - symbols, marks, & texts that are just outside our ability to read in the common sense of the word. I am also drawn to those fleeting moments when we escape our lot as thinking beings and access our pre-language selves. I believe that our deepest truth lies in those non-verbal moments. Art, especially abstract art, triggers these kind of moments for me, in both the creating and in the viewing. I become for an instant a human being, outside my normal mode of human doing.
