The word ‘Amihan’ is used in modern day Philippine society to refer to the early monsoons and colder northeast winds. Yet its origin is deeply embedded in the Tagalog folk belief of a gentle wind deity, ‘Amihan’, who takes the form of a celestial bird ushering periods of peace and freedom.
