When a color group creates a pleasant combination in its surroundings, it is called harmonious. Natural order in the color cycle is usually responsible for this feature. In the color wheel, the brightness and color of the colors have created harmony and affinity. Harmony, however, is not the only necessary condition; colorists believe that contrast ("the obvious difference between the effects of two colors compared to one another") is also necessary to create color harmony.
