Description

Once ubiquitous, the neon signs of Hong Kong's streetscape are rapidly disappearing. Many of the buzzing, failing signs have already been dismantled and this series of photographs captures these analogue giants before they are gone. This image was made in Kowloon in 2019.

Every neon sign is original, unique and hand made. The glass tubes are bent and shaped over flame and filled with neon, argon, xenon and krypton. This handcrafted tradition is quickly being replaced by digital billboards.
