Description

I'm going back to my first project on fxhash. I take another playful look at shape, form, chaos, and mathematical beauty to create unique and colorful designs made up of translucent glassy elements. In this piece I explore generate another impossible, hovering and spinning glass sculpture. Each unique rendering has a character of its own, some smooth and sensuous while others with sharp color and form changes, ragged edges, and chaotic beauty. Placed over a hilly meadow, with unique lighting to highlight the unusual nature of the glassy worm against a contrasting natural background.

In continuing my exploration of form, organic and digital art is now combined with an animated perspective view. I'm very much enjoying this space, and finding my ground in this new medium.

All proceeds shared with Three.js and Girls Who Code.

Interactive with several user controls:

With the mouse:

Left click and drag to change the viewing angle Right click and drag to change the view center Mouse wheel to change the distance to the view center

With the keyboard:

The "f" key will freeze the animation entirely. This can be used if you want to save the image at a certain perspective and location of the glass worm.

Keys "," and "." (or "<" and ">") change the rotation speed left or right. You can stop it entirely, or speed it up to what I consider a reasonable maximum, rotating to the left or to the right. Each time you press, it adjusts the rotation speed

Keys "1", "2", "3", and "4" set the rendering resolution to 1x, 2x, 4x, or 8x the screen resolution. You will see a noticable slow-down in rendering speed.

Key "s" will save to a ".png" file at the rendering resolution (1x..8x screen resolution) Key "S" will save to a ".jpg" file at the rendering resolution.
