The water’s cloudy pale green/blue color can come from a combination of very fine suspended sediment, minerals, algae or microorganisms, and seawater trapped in a relatively still basin. If this is close to the Hawaiian shoreline, water may also seep into and out of the pool through tiny cracks and pores in the volcanic rock even when you can’t see a direct connection to the ocean.
