Geikko

Inspired by the 1981 Nihon Buyo poster An advertisement for a traditional Japanese dance performance at the University of California. There are only two-dimensional shapes of circles, triangles and squares, but the image of a woman with a Japanese hairstyle is created by inorganic geometric patterns based on red circles and black semicircles. With strong forms and colors, this is Ikko Tanaka's most famous work, combining the beauty of traditional Japanese and western art.
