This painting was made in 2016. The introspection of a self-portrait provides an opportunity for introspection and discovery. In the moments creating this work, I saw parts of myself hidden for many years and now looking at it closer, I can see that I hid parts of myself too. Parts that can't be seen by others. Deep vulnerable parts that are kept for those moments late at night or looking in the mirror or reflecting upon when creating. Parts that are truly exposed to all to see but covered up by brush strokes of abstraction. Hidden in plain sight and can only be seen by those who take a deep look, think, and absorb meaning that can't be spoken.
