Description
This image isolates the Hydrogen within IC 1805 The Heart Nebula from other elements and removes the stars.
This is a huge region of nebulosity located in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It’s about 7500 light years from earth and hundreds of light years across. In the centre are vast pillars of gas and clustered bright stars designated Melotte 15 or the Heart of the Heart.
This image was shot with a dedicated monochrome astrophotography camera over multiple nights during November 2021. Over 8 hours of exposure across 2 panels was used to create this image.
