Collaborative video collage by Ex-Mortal and Matau

Tools & Process for Matau:

Video clips were sourced from the net, edited down to fragments in iMovie, then fragments were upscaled via Topaz Video AI, processed through Adobe After Effects, and layered, blended and further edited in Final cut Pro. This original “blend” plus “Amateur”base file was sent to Ex-Mortal who then worked his analog magic (see below) and sent me back his modified files, which I then further processed in Adobe After Effects plus edited and layered in Final Cut Pro, folding the Ex-Mortal files into the original project files to completely transform the result.

Tools & Process for Ex-Mortal:

_ Digital edit of “Amateur” film clip provided by Matau. Isolated image of actor Martin Donovan was achieved using various methods of rotoscoping and linear color keying. This edit was converted in handbrake, and prepared specifically for use in my eurorack hardware system.

—-> _modified/processed digital video clip, loaded via thumb drive into a eurorack module and processed again with analog glitch gear and digital feedback hardware ... color processing, looping and playback performed with a digital eurorack module. Analog glitching performed with a Syntonie CBV001 eurorack module. Focus enhancements MX-4 video mixer used at end of chain for stabilization. Captured with a Roland VR-3 Capture device. Additional processing and enhancements in Adobe After Effects.
