I couldn’t help but see the obvious dichotomy here. A woman stands on the sidewalk, smartphone in hand. She seems to be photographing an individual who is examining the storefront next door. Behind the woman is an old, out-of-business, camera store that appears to be left-over from an earlier age. I’m sure there are many us out there who remember the local downtown camera store. It was where you purchased your film and darkroom supplies, as well as cameras, lenses and all matter of accessories. But... with the advent of digital technology, those old Mom-and-Pop camera stores began to slowly vanish decades ago.

 The former camera store in my town is now an upscale restaurant and bar.

For me, this image is an ironic and visual commentary about the past, present and future. It symbolizes the evolution of technology.
