ESCHER'S LAMENT is an art project involving computer-generated versions of the works of M.C. Escher. Using artificial intelligence and generative algorithms, the project reproduces images inspired by Escher's work, exploring the possibilities of AI-generated art. Escher's "lament" refers to the fact that the AI-generated images are not exact replicas of his work, but rather a reflection of what the AI can create, so in a sense he is lamenting the fact that his work is not perfectly replicated.
