In ancient Japan, the art of kabuki theater and ukiyo-e prints served as a mirror of human nature, revealing the passions, betrayals, and power struggles lurking in the shadows. In feudal society, where honor was everything, a mask did not merely conceal a face—it revealed a deeper truth: the duality between appearance and intent. Samurai, actors, and courtiers coexisted in a world of facades, where loyalty could be fleeting and vengeance inevitable.
Deception was not only a strategy of war but an art in itself. The painted faces and grotesque masks of kabuki theater represented hypocrisy and transformation, where a hero could turn into a villain in the blink of an eye. Inspired by this tradition, "Masks of deception" explores the internal struggle between identity and representation, between truth and illusion, evoking the dramatic tension that has defined the history of samurai-era Japan.

En el antiguo Japón, el arte del teatro kabuki y las estampas ukiyo-e sirvieron como espejo de la naturaleza humana, revelando las pasiones, traiciones y juegos de poder que acechan en la sombra. En la sociedad feudal, donde el honor lo era todo, la máscara no solo ocultaba el rostro, sino que también revelaba una verdad más profunda: la dualidad entre la apariencia y la intención.
