During my sea dreaming, I created an acrylic painting series of water beings. Your NFT is an embellished digital rendition of one of the paintings, Sea Dreaming No.3, which is included with the purchase of the NFT. Here, the water being covers her ears with sea urchins so she can hear advice from urchin spirits. Sea urchins, which are echinoderms, are a sun symbol because of their many spikes. The Celts called sea urchins “serpent’s egg”, a symbol of life-force and the primordial seed. These people of the water that my Cherokee grandmother’s people called Yunwi Amai'yihe'hi, are friendly folks who help fisherman and other humans. In this artwork, the sea urchin is used as a totem. It teaches discernment and the art of recognizing underlying circumstances. The painting style is reminiscent of aboriginal dot paintings. Dots can be seen in symbolic patterns carved on artefacts and ancient rocks, in sand paintings, and in body adornment for ceremonies. Won’t you dream with me?
