I chose The Monarch Butterfly and its plight for two reasons. The first is climate change that is contributing to its endangered status, as it allows me to make a comment on something that many of us as Cryptoartists are or should be concerned about and can help do something about it - the proof of work blockchains with their substantial energy consumption.
The second is the butterfly as a metaphor in Chaos Theory. This always fascinated me, the idea of a butterfly flapping it's wings in one part of the world causing a tornado in another. As a teenager in the '90s I loved the pretty drawings of fractals, dynamical systems and strange attractors demonstrating order within chaos, which encouraged me to learn how to create algorithmic art, and go onto study and enjoy maths, physics and computing.
