CODE UNKNOWN

December 2017 - December 2021

Who or what built our physical reality? What is the generative code for all this? Is there one?

For my genesis collection, I sought to re-examine the beauty of our physical world with a new sense of wonder as we evolve beyond its borders into the metaverse.

All 100 Polaroids in this collection were captured with a 1990s-era SLR 680 or 1970s SX-70; some with a SX-37 telephoto add-on. The traditional white borders physically removed to reveal the transparent skeleton frames underneath. This allowed a generative-designed physical backplate to be used during scanning, creating unique frames for each piece. The ritual of captioning Polaroids is manifested here as hand-stamped "?"s using red acrylic paint. Every piece has been unaltered from the scan but cannot be recreated physically.

Holders of this genesis collection will have special privileges and utilities for all my future projects, both in photography and cinema.
