Once upon a time, on the flying island lost among the clouds in the far north under magical aurora borealis lights, the dying wizard of winter casted her last spell.

She wanted to thank her familiars, make them free and make them sentient. The magic of her will power and aurora borealis spirits melted the cat and the owl into two new creatures - catowls.

They were magical beings that could communicate on the mental level, enlarge their species by breeding with cats and owls; and had grumpy nature, the gift of curiosity and teleportation - and the love for cookies!

That's why they spreaded across the magic worlds closer to human wizards who can provide them with favorite snacks. And they mercifully allow these primitive fluffless charlatans to pamper their fluffy supremacies in exchange of some magical deeds.

Mighty telepaths. Grumpy sybarites and cookie lovers. Squeamish guardians of their perfectly clean fluffness. Outstanding magicians, irresistible catowls.
