Capybarrios (or Capibairros in Portuguese) are sanctuaries for Capybaras and their allies. Whenever a Capy is displaced, either by habitat destruction, or by human agents. They seek refuge at a Capybarrio, if they can get there.

When the Rat loses it's falt, it's time to get Re-falted. Not all Capybarrios are havens, some are institutes of chimerical studies, where Capys if they require intense medical procedures... or if they decide to evolve beyond the limits of species.

This series was created by feeding photographs of Capybaras to the DALL-E2 image generation AI. Photographs were taken in Ipaussu, São Paulo, Brazil in 2019. Before feeding images to the AI, Capys were cut out of their original photos and arranged on a white background in different tableaus. The idea is to deny Dall-E2 contextual visual data and let it's imagination run wild. The results are an often unexpected mix of mediums --photos, paintings, graphic design, and 3d renders. AI outputs are curated, edited, and in the case of this image, glitched while it was an output png file.
