Description

Biophilia refers to the innate human tendency to seek connections with nature and other living beings. In essence, biophilia underscores the vital connection between humans and the natural world.

The term biophilia was used by German-born American psychoanalyst Erich Fromm in The Anatomy of Human Destructiveness (1973), which described biophilia as "the passionate love of life and of all that is alive." -Kara Rogers, Britannica

In creating this project, my aim was to capture the fundamental human longing for nature, all while infusing it with a sense of both familiarity and distance. The relentless demands of my daily life often distances me from the natural world, and it is precisely this tug-of-war between my innate longing for nature and the reality of our constrained existence that I sought to capture with this project.

Thank you for taking the time to look at my art. -Ransom
