I am a professional laptop refurbisher, and I make art using broken computers. This is a series of 100 NFTs over 100 days, 7 editions each, all made using graphics processor defects! I have collected hundreds of broken laptops for this purpose. I’m inspired by the idea of working on art daily in order to build momentum.
Bad graphics processing units (GPUs) have always plagued modern laptops, and their artifacts (visual evidence of a defect) appear in the form of geometric shapes, a spotty impressionistic pattern, a severely skewed image, or, most often, just a black screen. "Creative" GPU defects are very rare, and I use them as filters to affect my photography. Most assume that artifacts are random, but I have found they are actually a measured response to the content and characteristics of an image on the screen. Photographing their interpretation of my images constitutes a true collaboration with technology.
