B-BOY SEMANTICS is a series of dynamic, digital illustrations created by Juan Doe honoring the art form of breaking or B-Boying, also known as breakdancing to a general audience.

Along with MC-ing (Oral), DJ-ing (Aural), Graffiti (Visual) and Knowledge (Mental), Breaking became the physical expression of the forces that united as the 5 elements of hip-hop culture. As a young child, seeing these incredible breakers battle and evolve this new form of artistic dance was both transfixing and transformative.

My experience as an artist has always been powered by the influence these cultural elements have had in my life. This series explores the dynamics of breaking and the physical romance between the movements of the human body expressed within the energy of an electric, visual landscape.

The first up in this series is the FLOOR GENERAL, master of the intricacies of floor work and down-rocking, using unheralded combinations of footwork at blinding speeds that render an opponent defeated before he enters the arena. This is a one of a kind edition.
