An exploration of my old digital self portraits and monoprinting with plant material.
With the majority of my work existing in the digital plane, often using AI as a tool, this work reflects a return to hands on techniques and a rejection of automation. As someone who embraced AI in early 2021, the journey as been both exciting and depressing. Encouraging and damning. A personal dive into ethical use and what it means for the art that I make.
Here I am, messy and real. Albeit temporarily.
Monoprint made with Ink, ash and dead mint on photo. 310 GSM cotton rag. Burns well.
Artist makes a work. documents that work, sets that work on fire, documents that fire, sends ashes to an artist. artist makes a work incorporating ashes. sets that work on fire. repeat. repeat. repeat. till there’s too much time and space between the burning stars and all the lights go out.
