This shall forever be the stance: give lichen a chance. Every thallus has its day, please allow them to stay~

It is my hope that all who encounter this artwork will henceforth be encouraged to kindly pick off and remove lichen bodies from foraged wood prior to casting said wood into a fire. They deserve to be noticed. I’ve been in many a situation where I see my friends tossing foraged branches and logs into a campfire without considering the innocent lichen communities living on them. This piece has me going against my own beliefs, by burning lichen to make a statement, in hopes these sacrificial lichens will save the lives of countless others. This is with a heavy heart. Please forgive me, I will never burn lichen again.
