Thousands of locks cover the fence in the foreground, each one placed there by someone carrying a story. Some may represent love, commitment, remembrance, loss, or simply a moment that a person never wanted to forget. Individually, each lock is small. Together, they become an enormous collective artwork made from human emotion.

Behind them, the Golden Gate Bridge stretches toward San Francisco, softly disappearing into the blue atmosphere. The shallow depth of field keeps the locks sharp while allowing the city and bridge to become almost dreamlike. That separation feels symbolic: the physical object remains clear while the memory behind it slowly becomes softer with time.

This is where the photograph connects to therapy. Sometimes healing isn't about forgetting what happened. It's about finding somewhere to place it. These people placed their emotions onto a fence; I placed mine into a photograph.
