This animation depicts the goddess Venus Pompeiana, the patron of the ancient city of Pompeii. In a fit of divine anger, she unleashes the powerful eruption of volcano Vesuvius, destroying the entire city under waves of scorching lava. Of course, the goddess’s wrath is my own artistic interpretation of the destruction of Pompeii.
