The bombardment of 24hr News and the transitory nature of the stories of conflicts around the world was the inspiration for this group of paintings..News stories can be played out in real time (live) but become less real to us. Multi screening seems to be the new pastime of this generation and digital technology is leaking into every area of our lives.  For this work I froze images from the screen and transferred them into paint. I then use these painted images as a starting point; as at the end of the process these original paintings are discarded. The initial paintings are transferred onto silk screens with the aid of photography and digital manipulation. I then use a layering process and other painted layers, before finally re-presented the images to the viewer in a newly combined format. This forms a kind of hybrid mark which falls somewhere between paint, photograph and print. In the digital pieces the final layer captures the pixels and reflection of the screen.
