Aznsú (the sick man) is one of the names of Sakpatá, a much feared and respected vodun, the lord of contagious diseases and entitled "Ayinon" - the Owner of the Earth. Considered a dual-ethnic deity, for his cult transits between the Fon and Yorubá peoples, where he is known by the name of Sòpònná (Xapanã). Vodun connected to the earth, to sickness and healing, to wealth and misery. His domain over the world of the dead is complete, and he is the lord of disincarnation. He is the god of humility, governing all those who are devoid of wealth but rich in spirit. His power is very present in society, and within candomblé, many are his mysteries and myths. His mother is Nanã Buruku, who abandoned him soon after birth, and was found and raised by Yemanjá. Azonsú is linked to Ewá, his companion. He is the brother of Bessém and Loko, and also of Agué.
