Baptism

In end times, extreme and outlandish religions began sprouting and spreading across the Earth. Gargantuan mechanised vessels savaged the planet, otherworldly in their presence and power. Societies were unable to effectively breach these structures, the lifeforms within unresponsive to the simplest communication attempts. Humans began to flock to seas and rivers to be ‘baptised’; a ritual involving the mixing of infected blood and unpolluted water. Despite the virus successfully infecting the majority of wildlife, ordinary people also risked contraction, rapidly deteriorating and distorting them heavily.

The humans blindly followed countless illegitimate teachings and stayed increasingly hopeful that a treatment could someday be manufactured. Nonetheless, once contaminated, the virus begins consuming and then violently rejecting the human’s body. Mortality rates remain at 90%. Those who are able to survive are hastily captured, either killed or enslaved and forced into human labour.
