She brings the Sun/Son

Happy Holidays! In this image I wanted to include the many meanings this seasons has, from the Christmas trees with the beautiful lights and decorations to one of the main reasons which is the start of the return of the Sun and the soon to end Winter days. For centuries before the start of religions this has been celebrated and was a very important date for our ancestors. The sun/son is being born but who is giving birth to him? I often wonder how the sun, all the planets and the universe was created. In many religions and mythology it’s always a Virgen Mother, a female who brings the son. In Mexico it’s “La Virgen de Guadalupe” basically our version of Mother Mary. She is always painted with rays around her and stars so I also wanted to incorporate that in this digital painting.
