My painting background was fundamentally informed by the Abstract Expressionists, including by mentors who both embraced and rejected the movement. Many of my mentors studied directly with these painters. As an art student, my heart fell somewhere in the middle, preferring the work, perhaps transitional, along the edge of figuration and non-objection, specifically de Kooning. \nAbEx extends my inquiry begun with FlosTechnica of high resolution, enhanced, upscaled imagery produced directly through the EmProps pipeline. Source input images for the work were complex groupings of flying figures, in the tradition of Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, generated in Midjourney. These were used as variable input into Stable Diffusion, along with randomly assigned palettes and abstract expressionist painters.\n8192x8192px
