Description

Iran Tire, a semi-governmental place regarded as one of the oldest industrial organizations in the country, started its work in 1964 and is still standing today. Nearly a thousand workers are working in this place, most of whom are contract workers. Contrary to what is intended for mass cultural production, photography should serve the truth above all else. For instance, to reach the existing reality of a worker in a workshop or factory, we can refer to the writings of Karl Marx, a 19th-century philosopher, who "The relation of the worker to the product of labour as an alien object exercising power over him. At the same time, this relation is the sensuous external world, to the objects of nature, as an alien world inimically opposed to him." It means that the more the worker throws himself into his work, the more he creates an alien objective world that becomes more powerful against the worker himself, making him and his inner world emptier and less belonging to him. In addition, when we talk about place, it is as if we are considering a mere physical body. However, speaking of space, we are addressing the interactions between that body and the social relations, rules, and values in that environment. For this reason, Marx says that the worker does not feel attached to that place and space and only remains estranged from that atmosphere, even if the worker himself affirms that he does not feel a distance between himself and the factory space. Therefore, a void appears between the worker and the area in which the alienated worker waves. It can be inferred that the identity of the factory space is formed by the credibility of the workers' labour. He looks at his body every time and feels the burden of a space-time whose trace will be left on his body for good.
